My felted purses. Happy Holidays!

Time flashes by. It's a Christmas eve today. I feel hectic somehow.

Well, here are some photos of completions of my latest project. They are crochet and felted purses. The first photo is brooches.

The garments became thicker stronger yet feeling soft and nice. The buttons are by my husband.

I got a cotton flower brunch. It looks wintery and nice.

We went to see a holiday train in the city 20 min away from us. I was excited to see the train passed by us.

The carriage ran around our village last weekend. It was good match with the old village charm.

And some nice decorations on the symbol of our village, the community hall.

I finally made a cake! Everything about Christmas.

It was snowing for a short time yesterday. It was added even more Christmas spirits! Yes, I'm crazy about Christmas. Lol.

I invited 3 Japanese girls who live around here for my Christmasy lunch. As I posted before I got a bundt cake mould and a cake stand, and also the vintage snack tableware set, and so I wanted to use them properly. Well, making our friendship even better was the main purpose of course though.

When I baked a butter cake first, I realized that to fill the huge bundt cake mould with that batter you have to use a huge quantity of butter and that's scary! lol. So then I baked a small butter cake and put it into Yogurt/cream cheese mousse to make it lighter. The colour became like candy cane and it's even better. The sauce was a raspberry/strawberry puree.
(I borrowed the pictures above and below from Y-cyan. Thanks!)

Lunch plate was like that. Cherry tomatoes and bocconcini salad, A beer hum and pear sandwich, a smoke salmon and cream cheese sandwich, and a mini prawn quiche. My friends seemed satisfied so I was glad.

♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎

It was St. Paul hospital Vancouver downtown. It's sparking every year in this season. I was working there as a gift shop sales clark long time ago when I was a student. So I attended a huge party of countdown Christmas lights back then too. I feel sad that the hospital move away from there to somewhere else soon.

And the Robson square of free ice skating rink. That was beautiful too.

We went to the Christmas market as well. We missed it last year due to our moving so It's been two year.

Nothing change so much but the size was a bit expanded? However, even nothing was new that was necessity to feel seasonal, occasional, and traditional atmospheres.

That was one of an annual christmas concert with VSO at St. Andrew's church. My mom kindly gave us tickets. We sat on the second floor so I liked our view with beautiful church's architecture. We got some Christmas songs sing-alone and it made me missed my choir time since I quite it a few years ago.

Ginger bread competition in Hyatt Regency hotel was also annual.  Their Guinness book registered  huge ginger bread is famous. This year's one was a life-sized steam clock of Gas town.

All pieces were unique and fantastic.

I made another pair of boots cuffs. And another project of pieces will be up here soon.

New handcraft project of mine. Our Christmas tree.

Our strawberry's leaves are so pretty now! It heavy rains outside though...

Well, here is brief introduction of my new handcraft project. It still middle of some experiments though. It's crochet or knit something, and wash wish hot water to make them into felt. I am almost obsessed with making this swirling hearts.

This particular one was finished with bead embroidery. I attached a pin on the back so it could be a pin or a Christmas ornament too.

Two round crocheted/felted purses are drying.

Previously described heart motif above was original like this when I just crocheted. It shrank as a felt about 85% and become thick and tough.

These ones are not felting project but some goods for the cold winter. A slouch hat and boots cuffs.

When you fill gapes in between legs and boots like that, it becomes much warmer.
I would post more felted projects later on.

This one was a event which never happens in Japan, I guess...
We bought this house around Christmas in last year and we were invited to this "you can get a free Christmas tree!" event from our realtor in this year. There were a Christmas choir, free hot chocolate, doughnuts, and hotdogs as well. Since all real estates in metro Vancouver are insanely expensive, realtors' services are also something big.

There were soooooo many people there. We waited our turn in a long line-up for a while.

There was even a pile of snow! I wondered if they brought it form the mountain?

And of course huge numbers of Christmas trees were laying and piling.

We finally got a small one, because our house is small. Till last year we picked big ones like over 7 foot, so it was so easy to carry in this year.

Got back home and put it together. Well, my husband did as well. Because our house was small, and only place available for a tree was behind of the couches, my hubby made a stand/cabinet to raise a Christmas tree levels with the couch's back.

And I was responsible for decoration. Our style is rustic/country so I made a tree less flashier than one at the former house. I wish I could decorate it with all white and a bit silver only but I can't give up on my existing ornaments with some sentimental values.

Bigger picture.

I also used some trimmed branches from the tree for another decoration like that.

On the way back from the tree event, we stooped by another one.

It was a Kwantlen First Nation Christmas Fair in Fort Langley where we live in too. The other side of Fraser river, on the delta of it is their reservation. It was a first time that we got deep inside of their reservation where usually not allowed for us to get into.

The culture centre building was decent and beautiful. We enjoyed watching their traditional arts and crafts inside of it. When we got out of the building, we saw two huge eagles flew over our head, and I felt that was spiritual.

We bought their hand made sockeye smoked salmon. It was great to glance their beautiful culture. It will happen again on Next Sat.19th. Come and check it out!

The village is becoming Christmasy. I've gotten a vintage tableware set! and more...

The winter grows deeper. Our village is getting more Christmasy.

It's been cold for a while. Frosty!

There were two different Christmas markets happened (and happening) at the neighbour community hall in weekends so far.

2 pics above looks the same but actually different markets. I wish I could be one of venders someday.

Since the closest cafe to us has closed down we were wondering what is coming next in it but it seems like a micro brewery that coming in the spring! yay! We are fans of craft beer so we can't wait!

♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎ ♥︎

I got few new things...

Putting a metal ornamental Santa and reindeers right in front of our gas fireplace is Christmasy!

On the other day, my husband texted me from his work and said that he has gotten a surprise for me. And then he came back with a big box and I had no idea what. It turned out that those vintage tableware set which I have wanted was in the box!

When I found the same Federal glass Co 1950's milk glass snuck set at the antique mall in Fort Langley, I started to be attracted to. However, they had only ones with Red rose pattern and the red is not my colour. I searched online such as ebay and realized that there was blue ones available somewhere most things were in U.S.A. While I was puzzling what to do, my husband secretly dealt with a Montreal vender and got it for me.

My "cafe corner" lol, is becoming nicer. I even bought a cake stand and glass hood for it. I'm seriously going to bake a cake soon! A motivation is set!

My twiggy wreath is also becoming a Christmas version.

I  put decorations on windows too. And finally we got handles for the shutters. They are nice on them.

This was nothing with Christmas but it's a picture from when we got a power outage. It happened sometimes and spend for a while with candle lights.

And this was form Surrey central city mall's big Christmas decorations. Sparkling!
