Life is beautiful, love is everywhere: 普段と違う感じの土曜日（1）ー宝石、ミネラルの展示会へ。Unusual activities on Saturday (1)

引っ越して以来、全く手入れができていない我が家の庭。真ん中に突然ぽつんと水仙が咲きました。春ですね〜。

We haven't done anything for our yard yet since we moved in here, but one daffodil has suddenly popped out in the middle of the yard. It's so spring!

ほんとに雨ばっかり。今日から夏時間（デイライトセイビング）のスタートです。明方に１時間スキップしたので、日本との時差は１時間減って１６時間になりました。明るい夜の始まり始まり〜。

Too much rain!!! Sigh... Day light saving time has just started in this morning. So the time difference between here to Japan gets 1 hour shorter, 16 hours now. It's a beginning of shorter brighter nights.

さて、昨日の土曜日の事。バンクーバーで雑用あったついでに色々な事柄を詰め込んでみたら、普段と全く違った楽しい土曜日になった、というお話その１。

Well, today's topic is about yesterday. I had some errands to do in Vancouver so we added some more nice activities in our TO DO list as well. Then our Saturday became fun and unusual day.

最初に行った所は、Vancouver Gem & Mineral Show　宝石や鉱物や化石の展示会です。

PNEの会場で今週末３日間開催です。

私は天然石でジュエリーを作るし、夫は石フェチ（笑）でもあるので、もってこいのイベントだと思い、楽しみにしていました。

First of all, we went to Vancouver Gem & Mineral Show at PNE which is held 3 days in this weekend. I make hand craft jewelry with natural stones and my husband has stone fetish, lol. So the event was perfect for us.

カナダのネイティブアート。とっても味があって素敵です。左の人が抱えているのはチョウザメ、キャビアの親。家の近所を流れるフレイザー川に生息している巨大な魚です。

Fabulous Native Canadian art. They were very tasteful. The left one held a sturgeon. They are huge fish who live in our mighty Fraser river which runs through our town.

ローマテリアルの鉱物や貴石が大量に販売されています。
Thousands of raw gem stones and minerals were available.

それを使ったアートやジュエリーも沢山。勉強になりました。

And also tons of unique artisan jewelry were there. I could learn a lot.

ざらざらでよくある感じの石を割ると、中がこんなになっていたらもう飛び上がってしまいますよね。

If you happened to crack an ordinary looking stone, then see inside look like that, you would be so ecstatic! lol.

会場の真ん中には大きな恐竜が。雄叫びをあげながら動きます。

There was a gigantic robotic dinosaur which was roaring and moving.

この方達はカナダの北部、ユーコンの金探しの実演の方たち。

一攫千金を求めて（？）極寒の地でもゴールドハンティングも想像を絶しますが、まぁ、なんと味のあるおじ様でしょうか。

They were from Yukon, northern part of Canada, demonstrated gold hunting. Look at the guy! He looked cool.

これが自然の色なんですね〜。圧巻です。でも考えて見れば、私達が使う絵の具の色の多くは自然界のミネラルを粉にして作る色なんですよね。根性があれば、自然のオイルとミネラルを使って油絵の絵の具は自分で作れるんです。私はその根性がないんですが（笑）、ちょっと真面目に考えたくなりました。

Those are natural colours of minerals. It looked unreal, however, our oil pain for artists are originally made of natural plant oil and those natural mineral pigments mix together. I was too lazy to do that but some eco-friendly artists are still making own paints out of those minerals now. That made me think of it again.

ヒトデや他の化石なども沢山ありました。

There were many unique fossils there too.

色々な種類の石が磨かれてビーズやペンダントや指輪になって売られています。

あまりにも沢山の展示者が沢山の物を販売しているので、迷いすぎてなかなか買えない。しかも、ほとんど珍しい石を見るだけのつもりで行って、あんなに沢山のジュエリーメイキングの材料（チェーンや革ひもや、フックなどの金具まで全部！）が売られているとはつゆ知らず、だったので、ジュエリーメーカーとしてはノープランで行たことを現場で後悔！

There were not only raw stones and materials but also thousands of polished and worked precious and semi-precious stones were available there. We were just expected it as like an exhibition so I was unprepared to purchase things. When I found tons of jewelry-making materials include even chains, hooks, cords, glass beads and pearls, I was bit overwhelmed to pick right materials for my own jewelry making.
